Something beautiful, something to eat,
someone to talk to.
A cocktail bar at 12th & Walnut, in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine.
Opening date to be announced.
An evening
beneath the clouds.
A ceiling fresco by Alex Frank.
Alex spent nearly a year painting figures that dissolve into clouds across the ceiling. The fresco fills the room overhead.
Our first muse.
Germania has stood above the front door since 1877, holding a globe, books and a painter’s palette.
The building bears her name. The bar takes its name from the inspiration we found here.
What began as a love of the building became a place for drinks, food and company.
Beauty is more interesting when there are people around to enjoy it.
We designed and built the interior ourselves, from the crown molding to the parquet. Alex Frank painted the ceiling. Together, the work took about four years.
The room,
in detail.
- The back bar uses granite that broke during delivery, reassembled with the fractures visible.
- Fragments of sculpture are embedded in cast concrete.
- Ornate crown molding meets the sixteen-foot ceilings.

The parquet holds a map of the sky over this corner at midnight on 1 January 1877. The date marks the building’s first year; her exact opening day is unknown.

- 2020→ A new home for hospitality
A familiar pleasure.
There is comfort in a drink made as it should be. Our menu begins with the classics, alongside house cocktails drawing on Spain, Italy and Germany.
The opening menu is on its way.
A little more
for the table.
Small plates to share.
A plate between friends is a good reason to stay for another drink. We’re opening with a small selection of finger food for the communal table.
Spain, Italy and Germany are our starting points. The selection will grow with the bar.
The delicatessen will follow, with more food for the bar as well as next door.
