Modern technique has a place, though the result always needs to still earn its place in the glass. Otherwise, it never meets us in reality. Italy and Germany keep turning up uninvited and we keep pouring for them. Classics done right and with purpose. Equal parts simplicity, quality, and passion.
Small things eaten standing up.
Or sitting down. Or floating
through the constellations.
Nothing here needs a knife. Nor much explaining. Our fare is for one hand so the other never has to leave your glass; little plates made for the gap between this drink and the next.
A few things
along the way.
Some parts were drawn before we began. Others changed as we worked.
- The granite for the back bar broke during delivery. We kept it and found a way to use the pieces.
- We made the crown molding to suit the sixteen-foot ceilings.
- Broken sculpture was cast into concrete, with fragments left exposed.
- The parquet was made with a map of the night sky inlaid in brass.
